Career

As a conference interpreter for German, Dutch and English, you can find me at specialist symposiums on topics ranging from groundwater security to inheritance law, or at board meetings or high-level political discussions. During these and other interpreting jobs, I have had the opportunity to lend my voice to heads of government, managing directors, and also to well-known personalities such as Oliver Kahn and Reinhold Messner.

While translating, I can allow myself to be pedantic until my heart’s content as searching for appropriate wording demands a flair for the language and attention to detail. While interpreting requires brain acrobatics and the gift of the gab, translation gives you the opportunity to carefully word each sentence, combining each of them like pieces of a puzzle to create a final masterpiece.

Personal Life

Growing up in the EUREGIO city of Aachen as the son of a Dutch librarian and a German Latin teacher, I acquired a love of languages from an early age. Numerous trips across the border and coming across multilingualism in books, films and conversations on a daily basis aroused my interest in linguistic finesse and cultural diversity.

My career choice was, therefore, an easy decision: After completing my Bachelor degree to become a translator in Maastricht in 2008, I acquired an M.A. in Conference Interpreting at the FTSK in Germersheim in 2011.

On completion of my studies, I strengthened my language and cultural proficiency by spending time abroad in both Great Britain and France, thus enjoying the advantages of a borderless Europe to the full.
